April 2008

Well, time for a breather!!!  The show season was fast and furious this year with an interesting dilemma -- too many shows!  Interesting how it affected many normally busier shows and it makes me wonder.....  But, there is news to announce for us locals to the Orlando area.  The Clarecona shows are getting a bit of a makeover next year and need to be seriously reconsidered!  They are going to be geared as much toward the amateur rider as the professional, with some changes to class selection and new (different) judging, more prizes and activities for spectators.  So please rethink coming to these shows next season -- I think you will be pleasantly surprised!

Also, I'm happy to announce that Mobile Horse Supply is again helping to sponsor the Silver Sands Bridle Club's annual recognized show the third weekend in June.  This time we even have some classes for the dogs, husbands and kids!  We are also looking for sponsorship monies from local businesses.  We divide up the money evenly and distribute it to the first 3 highest average of scores for each level from Training to FEI.  For more info, contact Jo at mobilehrs@AOL.com.  Prizelists and entry forms are available at www.silversands.org. This is a limited entry show, so get your entry in early!

I'm living on 2 hours of sleep, as usual for this time of year, with the "fun" known as foal watch.  We are expecting our wonderful mare, Bella, to pop at any moment!  Send all foaling thoughts this way, please!

Now that shows are slowing down, let me encourage you all to hit some of the local schooling shows and have some fun this summer.  I got to see lots of new mounts for old friends this year and some incredible up-and-comers for some of our local professionals.  I hope you all enjoy this spring weather and play with your four-legged buddies!

Spring is here!

Happy riding

Jo

December 2007

Well, it’s that time again -- can you believe it???  We’ve been happy and healthy and have had another interesting year.  We had beautiful foals this year from our pony, Pink’s Perfection and our young mare, Coming Attraction.  Both are thriving and growing like weeds.  They have become fast buddies and keep each other fit.  Both are very loving, easy babies -- how lucky!

Some of our alumni are progressing well, too.  Kathleen Bleech, who gave our mare, Labrianna, a wonderful home, has begun showing.  They look great and she makes the little mare look 17hh!

Labrianna

Rouen

Petite Chanson

Babette Gryzbowski has begun riding our filly, Rouen, who is now 3 years old.  They make a good team and I think Cover Girl needs to sign this filly -- look at that face!

Also, our second pony foal, Petite Chanson, is now 3 years old and has been started by his mom, Jennifer Naylor.  We are looking forward to seeing them in the show ring in the near future!

Our wonderful mares are holding their own, as well.  Coming Attraction has begun “real” shows and did super in Gainesville last month, receiving excellent scores and 8’s for her gaits.  Pink’s Perfection has begun showing 4th level this year and shows amazing aptitude for collection; what a piaffe she has!  She will certainly make a good schoolmaster in the future.  Both she and Roxy will be rebred in the spring.  We are also thrilled with our 3 year old Briar mare, Bella.  She has been started under saddle (thanks, Jean Thornton!) and shows super potential.  She is due to foal this April and we can’t wait!

We lost our special pooch, Katrina, this year.  She was happy and bouncy up to the end and we will always treasure the time we had with her.  Wolfgang and Vroni are still running the house (or at least the cats let them think they are!).  We love our furry family and are so fortunate to have them.  We are also SO lucky to have such good and loyal friends and we can only hope that they know how much we value them.

So have a great holiday!!!  Enjoy your friends, both 2 and 4-legged.

     Happy riding!

November 2007

The fall has arrived!  Is everyone enjoying the weather?  Except for some fairly spastic youngsters, it's a very nice break from the heat.  It has inspired us at the store to clean out and pass on more savings to you just in time for Christmas!  I'm moving some of last season's items from Kerrits and Kyra, as well as several nice jackets that are no longer being imported.  Please check the closeout page on the website to see the details.  I also have lots of gifts for the holiday and I am your husband's/partner's best friend this season!  Just call and let me know what your significant other wants, and I can wrap and send it to you all ready to put under the tree!  How easy is that?!  And, with all the sales, you might even be surprised how much you save!

We have lots of new items arriving for this season and I can't wait to show you as I see you at the shows!  I have listed our tentative schedule for the year on the website, so I hope to see you all on the road!  Let's strive this year to enjoy the shows and make the atmosphere as positive as possible and let's all encourage each other.  We do this for fun and sport.  In today's world, we are lucky to be able to do this.  I am looking forward to showing a couple of my girls, too, this year.

We will be set up at the USDF Convention in Orlando so please stop by and see us.  We are also happy to welcome Mr. Bo Jena back the beginning of December for the first of several symposiums this season.  For any information, please contact Jo at mobilehrs@AOL.com .  We wish everyone a happy holiday season and offer our personalized service to make your life easier!

Giulietta enjoying the fall cool-down!

Happy riding!

September 2007

I hope everyone has come through the summer fairly unscathed.  It appears there is a cooler light at the end of the tunnel, as our temps drops a few degrees!  We are getting geared up for the new season, and want to announce some upcoming dates.  We have also posted our schedule on the webpage for next season.

ANNUAL SWAP MEET:

Our annual swap meet and sale will take place on Saturday, October 13, 2007 at Jo's house in Chuluota.  This is a great opportunity to clean out all that stuff you never use and make a little money for the shopping season!  Any used (or un-used) items should be marked (with a tag that doesn't fall off!) with price, name and phone number, and OBO if the price is negotiable.  Then drop your items off in the morning, or stick around to see what comes in, then pick up your money and leftover items at the end of the day (we keep everyone's money in separate envelopes).  There are no commissions, there are sales on lots of Mobile Horse Supply merchandise, free gift wrap, door prizes and lots of fun company to visit with.  So mark your calendars now and plan to visit us that day.  If you want more information, call Jo at 407-359-5086 or email at mobilehrs@AOL.com.

BO JENA CLINIC

Bo will be here from Sweden for his first clinic of the season on December 5th and 6th and the morning of the 7th.  The first two days will be held at Susanne Benne's Half Halt Stables in Cocoa, and Friday morning will be at Jennie Jarnstrom's new farm in Apopka.  Spots are limited, so please let me know ASAP if you will be attending.  Mr. Jena is the head of dressage instruction at the Flyinge in Sweden, as well as an international FEI judge.  He is a gifted and kind instructor.  Contact Jo (same as above) for more information or registration forms.

USDF CONVENTION

We will be setting up shop at the USDF Convention this year, which is being held at Disney!  We hope to see many locals taking advantage of the convention being so close to home.  If you go, be sure to stop by at the market!

We are also happy to announce our little boy, Hollywood, is thriving again.  Thanks again to all the doctors at both Central Fla. Equine and Equine Med Center of Ocala -- we really appreciate you!  "Woody" is fattening up and jumping around like a maniac again!  It's a joy to see.  Congratulations, too, to our webmaster, Lynn, on the acquisition of her new boy, "Jagger."  We wish them lots of fun times in the future!

August 2007

Is everyone hot enough?  Suddenly, those cold, rainy days of February don't seem so bad anymore!  I hope everyone is holding up well and drinking lots of water!  We have several exciting announcements to make this summer.  Mobile Horse Supply - Outlet North has officially opened at the Whistle Stop near Wellborn, Florida.  Cathy Willson, owner, has graciously allowed me to place some final closeout items in her wonderful coffee shop.  These are final sale/closeout/discontinued/odd sized/only one left/ can't reorder, etc. items from boots to top hats to breeches to coats.  It's going to be somewhat off season, but is a great opportunity to stock up for the upcoming season!  Please consider checking out what's available, as the stock will change constantly.  Cathy can be reached at cathywillson@alltel.net for information about her shop.

We also had a WONDERFUL time at the Belgian Warmblood inspection held at Prairie Pines Farm in North Florida.  We took a truckload (thanks Jennie!) and everyone was great!  Our new pony baby, we have discovered, is now the first BWP pony bred in America and he made quite a splash!  Helluva Dream Maker scored 74%, received fantastic comments, and was one of the highest scoring kids at the event!  His mom, our own Dragon's Lair Pink's Perfection, scored very high as a breeding pony, receiving a 70%.  We decided at the last minute to enter Giulietta, our yearling filly who was only on the ride to get rebranded.  She won the yearling futurity class with a 72%!  And "Woody" (Hollywood Flyboy) did very well with excellent scores on his gaits.  We are thrilled that he came through a medical scare the previous week (was in ICU several days) healthy.  Although underweight from his hospital stay, he still showed what he can do!  All were branded and are home and happy again. (Photos by Cookie)

Giulietta

A special thanks to the vets here: Central Florida Equine Hospital & Dr. Roberts, and in Ocala, Equine Medical Center of Ocala & Dr. Franklin for taking such great care of my boy.  He is making a full recovery and I was very pleased with the excellent care he received!  It's been a bit of a tough year for mares and foals, so we are very grateful to have come through this season!

We also just returned from the annual trade show.  Oh boy!!!!!!!  Wait until you see all the new goodies!!!!!!!!!!!!!  Hope to see everyone soon at one event or another.  We will be at the Arredondo show at Canterbury, the Regionals in Ocala, and also set up at the USDF Convention in Orlando.  Everyone stay cool and, as always, happy riding!

Jo

June 2007

Is it dry enough yet???  I hope everyone is surviving this drought and doing their rain dances.  I'm sure the tide will change soon, but. . . on a happier note, we're busy cleaning out the store and trying to move excess merchandise for the summer.  On sale are lots of coats, including raincoats, many Trainer's Choice pants, several sizes of Cavallo tophats and selected leather goods, along with the sale racks carried to the shows.  If you have any needs, some of the items on your list may be on sale.  Please feel free to email me and check while I'm in this spring cleaning mode!

Don't forget the great shows this summer, too.  We locals always have fun at these shows, and it's a great way to catch up with everyone.  There are 2 shows at Tampa and Canterbury and our show in June at Silver Sands still has some openings (www.silversands.org).  I'll look forward to seeing you all in the ring this summer!

The "kids" are growing like weeds!  Yes, I have to share (as usual).  Bella, thanks to the wonderful starting of trainer, Jean Thornton, is now doing well under saddle and is busy getting bred. And here are this year's boys after their first haircuts!

April 2007

I hope everyone made it through a delayed, but busy show season.  Things are beginning to slow down, except for us breeders!!!  May I introduce everyone to "Hollywood Flyboy," our latest edition!  He is Coming Attraction's (aka "Roxie's") new baby by the stallion, Morrocco.  His dad's owner is considering purchasing him as a stallion prospect -- we would be thrilled if this happened.  He is amazingly strong, very beautiful and stunningly correct.  He arrived Easter morning and didn't really want to come out!  (He was a HUGE baby and required a bit of assistance).  Everyone is fine, though, and we now anxiously await the arrival of our pony's baby, which should appear any minute now.

We would also like to let everyone know that we received our licenses for the June qualifying show at Silver Sands Bridle Club, so we'd like to invite anyone to come.  We offer a small, fun atmosphere and we are emphasizing sportsmanship and education.  We are supplying lots of prizes and are actively soliciting prize-money.  Several farms have donated already, such as Willingham Dressage and Adagio Stables (thanks so much!), and we are hoping some local businesses will consider chipping in, as well.  We will pool all the money and divide it up evenly for the winners at each level, including training level.  So please spread the word, as we will continually announce our benefactors throughout the show and in the program.  It's fun to win a little money!  For sponsorship forms, contact Jo at mobilehrs@AOL.com

There are also some really fun shows coming up this summer in Tampa and at Canterbury.  If you know of any that should be announced, let me know.  We hope to see lots of you in the upcoming months.

Happy riding!

Jo

March 2007

Well, show season is in full swing again and it's really great to see some of my old friends.  There are some pretty amazing new horses out there, too!  I hope you are all going out and watching the competitions -- it's amazing how much you can learn!

We had a super clinic again with Bo Jena from Sweden.  He will make his final trip back here mid April and the final dates will be listed on the website within the next week or so.

The mares, Coming Attraction and Pink's Perfection are about to pop -- I can't wait!!!  Our Briar filly, Bella, is now driving (thanks Jean Thornton!) and will be bred next month.  So spring is upon us!

I have enlarged our sales pile in an attempt to downsize a bit and we also opened a storefront on ebay for some of the final closeout items.  It is under the store name, Mobile Horse Supply, so please check it out when you have time.

I was asked by Silver Sands Bridle Club in New Smyrna to put together a recognized dressage show.  We will be doing this the weekend of June 23-24.  The emphasis is on sportsmanship and education with a small show atmosphere.  There are a limited number of entries available, and information can be downloaded from their website at www.silversands.org or contact me and I'll send the prizelist to you.

As usual, too, there are lots of big shows on the schedule now and throughout the summer, so I hope to see you all somewhere along the line!

Bella after 3 weeks driving. What a good girl!!

Happy riding!

PFANCY’S FAVORITES FARM

CHRISTMAS 2006

"All My Children"

“Twas the month of Christmas and time to reflect on all the wondrous events of the past year and the exciting year to come.  We have so much to be thankful for.  Our broodmare, Astrid, foaled a beautiful filly we named, “Giulietta,” by the stallion, Lotus T.  We had to use a “G” this year and, in keeping with the exotic car theme (something near and dear to my heart), we named her after the new model of Alfa Romeo.  Fitting, too, since she received a premium status from the Belgian Warmblood Society.

Astrid is back in form, as well, and has been sold to the perfect home; that of Ms. Caroline Tanner.  She is a very successful hunter rider who is making a switch to dressage.  I couldn't be more pleased at the perfect match they make!  Astrid's second filly, "Rouen," is still quite stunning a loveable (shown below with new mom, Babette Gryzbowski's son, taking a break in her stall).  She is beginning her work under saddle and has a bright future.

Rouen with Babette's son, Danny

Text Box:          Jennifer & Petie
Our superstar pony, Dragon’s Lair Pink Perfection, has been very busy, as well.  She is in foal to Crown

Jennifer and Petie

Heartbreaker, a German riding pony who is wonderfully tempered and is an exceptional mover.  We keep dressing her in pink, hoping osmosis will occur and a filly will pop out!  She is figuring out collection more and more and even has a cute piaffe now!  Her last baby, “Petite Chanson” (aka Petie), has been started under saddle by new mom, Jennifer Naylor.  We hope to see them soon at some schooling shows -- they are so cute together!

Our wonderful three-year-old, “Coming Attraction” (aka Roxie), is also doing great.  At her last show, she won her Training level tests 2 & 3 classes with scores of 69 and 65 percents, even in heavy winds!  She is absolutely the horse of my dreams and I cannot thank Astrid enough for making me such a wonderful girl!  She is also due to foal in April to the Belgian WB stallion, “Morrocco.”  This one should be something special, too!

Our two-year-old filly, “Bella” (by Briar out of Labriana by Cicero), is also doing well.  She is learning to lunge and long line, as she will be going to trainer Jean Thornton to learn to drive in January and February.  She gets more beautiful by the day and is even growing into her head now!  She’s pretty sweet and sensible, too, and is getting bred in the spring to the Swedish stallion, Richfield, who stands at the Flyinge in Sweden.  He is known for an amazing temperament and incredible movement.  Her older brother, Bardo (now 5) is coming along nicely with new mom, Melissa Taylor.  They reside in Washington state and Melissa flew all the way here to meet Jan Brink and watch his symposium.  Bella’s younger sister, Gabriella, (by Vermouth), received a Class I rating from the Swedish Association this year and cleaned up at an in-hand show this summer.  Her mom, Kim Long, will be starting her in another year or so; she is really beautiful!

Gabriella

Wolfie and Katrina

Our other kids are keeping us busy, too.  Vroni is still tooling away in her wheels, Wolfgang is still busy chasing squirrels and Katrina is busy sleeping.  Bodo and Tigger are also busy chasing each other all night (fine until they run across us in bed!!!).  We stay very busy, though, and that’s the way we like it.  We treasure all our friends and hope you all have a wonderful holiday, playing with all your critters (both the kind on two and four feet!).

Vronie -- "The Boss"

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Annual Swap Meet on December 2nd. . . . .Bo Jena's comin' back!. . . . .The girls rock at Inspection. . . . .Thanks for the support!

Well, I hope everyone is surviving the summer alright!  The storms have been very kind to us so far and now they say we're going to have a pretty wet winter.  El nino, La nina -- I can't keep them straight!  No matter, we are fortunate to have had such a mild year.  Fall is now approaching and we have lots planned for the next season.  Our Annual Swap Meet will be taking place the weekend of December 2nd, so start digging out all that old tack and riding apparel that you never use, clean it off and place a sturdy price tag (the kind that won't come off!) on your items.  Remember, you don't need to be present -- just drop items off in the morning and pick up monies and remaining items that night!  You out-of-towners are also welcome -- make it an Orlando shopping day, then return to pick up your earnings!  We always have a huge turnout and, as always, there are no commissions except on saddles (10%).  We will also be having HUGE sales on store merchandise and lots of extra Christmas gifts, as well as free gift wrapping.  It's always worth the drive and we have tons of fun!

the dog days of summer,

 featuring Wolfgang and Katrina

I am happy to announce that Mr. Bo Jena will be back from Sweden for a clinic December 4th and 5th (Mon & Tues).  This is the week before the first recognized show at Clarecona, so what a great way to prepare!  We will be holding the clinic at Susanne Benne's farm, Half Halt Stables, in Cocoa, right off I-95 and SR 520.  I will be sending out flyers soon, so if you want to receive one, please let me know.

We also have to brag about our wonderful girls!  We just returned from the Belgian Warmblood inspections and our new filly, Giulietta, earned first premium!  Both of our mares, Astrid and Coming Attraction, received very high scores and were placed in the main mare book.  Astrid is now weaned and going very well.  She is available for sale to a wonderful home only.  We hope to find her the perfect match!

Lastly, I'd like to thank all the perfect strangers I have met (as well as my great friends!) through the little article I wrote which USDF printed in their magazine.  I have received really nice comments and lots of support from many similar case scenarios.  It's always nice to feel like you're not alone!

Have a safe end of summer and I am VERY much looking forward to seeing all my northern friends again this season!

Happy riding!

Jo

July 2006

For any of you that missed the annual Hot Summer Nights show in Tampa, you missed a great show!  As usual, the management went all out and I think it's safe to say that all participants (myself included) really had a great time.  The weather even cooperated with us for the most part (ahhh, summer in Florida!).  There are 2 summer shows scheduled at Canterbury in Gainesville, another Tampa show and lots of schooling shows during this quiet season.  So don't hide out during the heat -- we have a lot of fun at these shows because they are often more laid back and relaxed.  So I hope to see many of you burning up the ring!

Guilietta, by Lotus T out of Astrid

Our trade show is coming up in August and I always appreciate any ideas or special requests to look for.  I'll be picking out my fabrics for the next season, so let me know of any trends or great ideas!

Both our pony mare and our 3-year old Swedish mare are pregnant!  The pony is bred to a beautiful German riding pony named Crowned Heartbreaker and Roxy is bred to an up-and-coming GP stallion, Morocco.  Any inquiries about next year's crop are welcome.  Both foals should be pretty spectacular.  Our newest foal, Giulietta, (pictured here after her first haircut), is growing like a weed and is goofy, happy, athletic and beautiful.  We can't thank her sire, Lotus T, enough!

So, drink lots of fluids and keep on riding!  Hope to see you at a show this summer!

Take care,

Jo

May 2006

Well, it looks like the rains are finally beginning to arrive!  We really needed it here in East Orlando, where the fires got too close to some farms!  With the rain, comes more heat, though.  We have some new products that may help.  Kerrits have some long sleeved tops that are very wearable in this heat and some adorable new colors and styles of pants.  We are also having a sale on all discontinued colors of Kerrits in stock, so watch out for our sale racks at the next show!

Guilietta, by Lotus T out of Astrid

May Days was a great success, and tons of fun, as usual.  We hope to see you all now at Hot Summer Nights.  With the show ending a bit early each day, you'll have lots of time to shop!!!.  There are also some great schooling shows this summer, so keep up the work!  We have also added a "Bargain Basement" page to the website.  This merchandise is mostly unusual sizes, discontinued items, etc. that just needs to go to a good home.  Please take the time to look through the page and see if anything hits you.

Our new filly, Guilietta, is growing incredibly fast.  She is by Andras Szieberth's stallion, Lotus T, and is a future broodmare for the farm.  Her temperament is matched by her looks and movement; we are thrilled.  Both Coming Attraction and Pink's Perfection are getting bred, so everyone keep thinking those fertile thoughts!

Have a great summer and feel free to contact us if you have any riding needs!

Take care,

Jo

April 2006

Well, we had a wonderful clinic with Bo Jena last week.  It will probably be the last one until fall.  Thanks to all riders that participated.

There are a few really fun shows coming up that I hope to see you all at!  The May Days Qualifier at Canterbury is always a great show.  Wendy goes out of her way to make it pleasant for the riders!  From cash prizes, to good judges, to a wonderful atmosphere, I hope we all support these kinds of shows.  Also, the annual Hot Summer Nights show is coming in June.  Here, too, they go out of their way for the riders.  They've added another ring so that the classes can end by 2PM and they have a Hawaiian theme this year, I believe.

I've been up on my soapbox about the judging this year and have gotten some really interesting response.  I hope the conversation continues and we all participate in reasonable debate on this subject.  Nothing ever improves without fresh input.

So, get out your electrolytes and keep up the work through these fun months!

Take care,

Jo

March 2006

In case you missed the Bo Jena Clinic..........

For anyone who missed this past Bo Jena clinic, what a loss!  We had PERFECT weather, great rides and some amazing horses (and one super pony!).  Bo was very pleased with all the rides and was especially happy with how hard everyone tried.  Yette Eppenaur got to hear how amazing the young horse she rode was (probably better than even the owner knew).  Morganne Schmidt got a boost of confidence on her wonderful mare, who was a real trooper for being 8 months pregnant!  Leah Khorsandian got multitudes of exercises to take home to her students, as well as really great work from both her horses.  Willem Foekema had two very nice horses and the remark of, "That guy can really ride!," from our clinician.  Charlotte Trentleman was back in super form after knee surgery -- she and her mare were dancing again!  Kim Long worked beautifully through a "You don't really mean I have to do that" moment from her horse, then ended up looking like a champ. Sue Kolstad and her student, who flew in from Alaska for the clinic to ride her new import, had great rides, as well.  Maya Sniadesky had Bo working half steps in the long lines on her mare, Flirt, before she rode both days; that was fun to watch!  And, of course, my pony was her typical wonderful self.  We finally got a breakthrough for our changes.  We had an overall great time and, as usual, learned tons!

Bo will be back, I hope, for one or two days in April.  I will send out a notice as soon as I get the dates.  I also hope to see lots of you spectating at the Heidleburg cup.  The ride list reads like a "Who's Who" list of top riders from the country!  In the meantime, keep riding yourselves

Take care,

Jo

February 2006

Check out your local shows. . . . .Bo Jena update. . . . .New Close-Outs Coming Soon!

Well, folks, we're into a busy show season and the horses and riders are even better than before!  I still don't understand why more locals don't visit the shows.  You can learn SO much by watching the warm-ups; it's like free auditing at the clinics of some of the best trainers.  As usual, too, lots of theories and debates arise in the shop that really make me think; from judging to riding techniques to styles.  I learn so much at every show!

I'm happy to announce our next clinic with Bo Jena from Sweden.  We are holding this clinic, Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb 28 and March 1, at Charlotte Trentleman's farm in Anthony.  We have some great riders coming and have one or two spots left, as well.  Auditors are welcome at $10.00 per day.  We start at 8:30 on Tues. and 7:45 on Wed. -- hope to see you there!

As new stock arrives for spring, we have lots of sales going on to move out the fall merchandise.  We will be posting new sale items within the next week.  So, keep busy enjoying the weather and start attending some shows!!!!!

Happy riding!

Jo

December 2005

Have you been naughty or nice?. . . . .'Santa Jo,' your personal Christmas shopper. . . . .Bo Jena update. . . . .Clinic pictures. . . . .See you at the shows!

Can you believe it's Christmas time again already?!?!?  For all you husbands and significant others:  If your partner needs anything 'horsey' this year, feel free to call me and I will steer you in the right direction.  I'm happy to shop, wrap and ship for you -- isn't that easy?  Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday and lots of extra time to spend on your horse!

Jo and 'The Pony'

We just completed our clinic with Bo Jena and had a great time.  We had several new faces that seemed very pleased and some pretty spectacular horses.  Bo was quite pleased with his lessons and even more pleased with the weather!  He'll be taking some sunburn back home to icy Sweden with him!  The next clinic will be near the beginning of January and will be held either in East Orlando or Ocala, depending on response.  So, if you're interested, please let me know now, so I can plan.

These are some pictures of the clinic.  This one, in particular (left above), is the "pony" I carried around in my little Saturn for a few days!  This is "Quick," owned by rider Lisa Dufresne.  Boy, did we get some looks!

There are lots of shows in the next few months and I hope to see many of you at them.  Remember, even if you're not riding, come out and watch - especially the warm-ups.  Consider it free auditing for lessons!  Again, have a great holiday!

Happy riding!

Floridians rock at at Regionals. . . . .Facility recap. . . . .Don't forget my 'Swap Meet' on October 22. . . . .Clinic update. . . . .See you at the shows!

Well, show season is upon us!  I just returned from the Regionals, where, I must say, our Floridians (yes, those who really live here all the time!) CLEANED UP!  Congratulations to so many of you that worked so hard and are always out there, year round, plugging away.  It really paid off!!!!!  I sold out of my white polos quickly, as all my friends needed them for the awards ceremonies!!!!!

A word about the facility.  If we hadn't had monsoon storms the entire week of, and the facility had completed its scheduled second barn (with electricity), it would have been perfect.  (At least we had no hurricanes!!!!!)  But under the heading of "growing pains," we learned the cons of the place. HOWEVER, the pros were enormous.  That indoor with the screens displaying the scores was phenomenal!!!!!  I felt like I was in Germany!  The awards ceremonies were fantastic and the crowds were impressive!  The dinner and art show Saturday night was amazing and the coordinators went over and above to make the event special!  By the next time we get this competition in Florida, that place will be great!

Please remember, too, our swap meet on the 22nd of this month.  If you can't make it and are looking for something, call me the day of and I can always hold it for you (407-359-5086).  This is always a really fun day and there are a couple other vendors coming to close out some stock, as well (great stuff for Christmas!).

I also just got back from the Jennie Lorriston-Clark clinic last week.  Thanks to a VERY gracious Pat Deasy for hosting and to the tireless Ms. Clark for all the help.  I never knew I could get that much out of my mare!  She is a gifted teacher and a great cheerleader!  Don't forget, too, our clinic with Bo Jena from Sweden this December 4-7.  There are a few spots left and there are some openings at Knoll Dressage Center on that Tuesday.

Last but not least, I hope to see many of you at the first show at Clarecona this December and the Black Prong and Arredondo shows this November!

Happy riding!

New show season approaching. . . . .Close-outs & new fall inventory at Regional Championships. . . . .Thanks to everyone helping out with hurricane Katrina aftermath. . . . .Upcoming recognized shows not to be missed. . . . .Bo Jena back by popular demand Dec 3-5.

We hope everyone is gearing up for the new show season and we're looking forward to seeing lots of new faces as well!  With the "cool snap" this week (oh boy, only 89 instead of 95 degrees!), it seems like fall already!  I would encourage anyone interested to attend the Regional Championships in Jacksonville.  The people there are REALLY working hard to make it a class I event.  They are covering every detail and it will truly be impressive.  The indoor arena will make you feel like you're in Europe, too.  I will have the shop as well as a tent there with all my close-out items and new fall stock.  I have hired some great friends to help me, so I shouldn't be as "spastic" as I know I am at times.  Thanks, by the way, for always being so patient with me!

I know of a great many people around here helping out the folks in Louisiana.  Kudos to all of them; we know how appreciative we would be if the roles were reversed.  We've been lucky here so far, so I thought I'd let you know of a few events you may not have heard about yet.  The driving facility, Black Prong, which I've been told is really stunning, is hosting a rated dressage show in November.  It sounds like a quiet, easy setting for a show.  I believe they will be posting prize lists on their website, www.blackprong.com.  Another new facility, the Florida Horse Park, is having a recognized dressage show in January, 2006.  They can be found at www.flhorsepark.org.  It is exciting to see new venues and schedules.  I hope this means more people are getting into showing!  We also look forward to seeing all of you at Klaus' first show in December, since it's always full of us "locals!"

Speaking of December, Bo Jena will be here from Sweden on the 3-5th.  I will be dividing the lessons between two host facilities this time.  One is Susanne Benne's farm in Cocoa, and the other is Tina Thompson's facility in Merritt Island.  Both have fantastic rings with super footing and mirrors, but limited space, so please let me know if you are interested as soon as possible.

Happy riding!

Summer show recap. . . . .The hurricanes are a comin'. . . . .Baby and breeding update. . . . .Check out the new browbands. . . . .Trade show in August. . . . .Bo Jena back by popular demand. . . . .See you at Regionals!

I hope everyone is surviving the heat and getting ready for all the upcoming storms (oh boy*&#$^%^%$!).  The first couple of shows this summer have been really nice.  The Hot Summer Nights show, as always, was a smash.  They work so hard to make their shows fun for all by paying attention to details, judges, organization, prizes, etc.  Thanks!  We wish you did more than just one per year!  The first Sizzler show was during hurricane Dennis, so many from the West coast were unable to attend and the weather was fairly scary.  Kudos to all of you that rode it out anyway!  Just a note about these storms:  Last year, many horses ended up needing to go on Gastroguard and similar medications after the worst passed.  If your horse stops eating and seems off, consider asking your vet about it.  We know how it affected us, so I'm sure it gets to them, too!

I'm happy to announce the Labriana had her foal (by Vermouth).  She's a beautiful black filly with lots of white and legs that go on forever!  Also, an incredible temperament -- what a sweetie!  Congratulations to new owner, Kim Long, on the arrival of her new superstar!  Astrid was rebred and is now in foal to the Belgian Warmblood stallion, Lotus T.  So now everyone is settled for the rest of the year, we hope.

These are new browband projects and I'm looking for feedback.  I met a lady who makes these beautiful lampwork beads and I thought they'd be nice centered on the brow.  I'll be getting more colors in with a few more variations soon.  It keeps me out of trouble!

The trade show is in a few weeks and I'll be ordering new fabrics and stocking up for the season.  If there are any special requests or something you'd like me to look for, please contact me.  In the works, too, is our next clinic with Bo Jena.  He will be arriving here from Sweden near the beginning of December and I think the clinic will be at Charlotte Trentleman's place in Anthony again.  Please give me a heads up if you're interested in coming.  Also, we will be set up at the Regionals in Jacksonville this October with a ton of closeout merchandise.  Please come by and visit us there for all kinds of extra goodies!  In the meantime, keep riding and stay cool!

See you soon,

Jo

Florida's sizzlin' summer has begun. . . . .First foal arrives. . . . .Willi moves to North Carolina. . . . .See you in Tampa. . . . .More internet Close-Outs on the way.

"Baron" - by Blue Eyed Dream

Well, summer is here!  Don't let down your training now, folks!!  This is what makes us Floridians tough ("they" say we can't handle the cold; I say they can't handle the heat!).  Start drinking your Pedialite before bed so you don't kick your husband and pets out. And remember to drink lots of water during the day and ride early.  See; it's easy!

We had our first foal here last week.  This is "Baron," although around here we call him "Butters" (South Park fans).  He is owned by Jean Thornton and is by her Cremello WB stallion, Blue Eyed Dream.  He is incredibly strong, very sweet and sane.  Astrid has been rebred to Lotus T, a beautiful Belgian WB stallion by Landgraf, out of a Bold Ruler mare.  We are also waiting for Labriana to deliver any day now.  She is in foal to the Swedish stallion, Vermouth.

Chant de Paix has arrived at his new home in N. Carolina.  After only one week of new ownership, he and his new partner, L
